I am a Spanish girl who in August will go to Paradise beach vacation to a rented apartment, was looking for information about the area (as they do not know) and I found your site, let me congratulate you on just how cool is all very well indicated, although English is not me has been very helpful for my doubts over the area. Congratulations again. Ah! genial Web-cam I'm willing to go there. Kisses

Hi to all again, as you can see the sports centre is coming along all be it slowly now, as the workers have been scaled down, and think in August no one will work, as is the norm in Spain, the Playa Paraiso festival began last night, started about 10pm with bingo in spanish and english, then had music and went on till about 2am, we know its loud, but this is Spain and its their way of life and it is only for 4 weeks so as someone said earlier when in rome, and if we dont like it then we could always move back to rip off Britain, I dont think so! and regarding the drinking and driving, yes its the same here and should not happen, but to put the records straight the person the other week knocked only one person down and it was not on a crossing, not that it makes things any better, but facts are facts and should be certain before they are put down in print as we all leave ourselves open to libel cases, and you know what rumours are here they go round faster than anything so before anyone says or prints things please make sure you have all the right details, as the saying goes if in doubt say nowt. Well must say the weather here is very hot yet again, sorry to all back in England reading this yesterday and today have been two of the hottest yet, got in my car at 10.30am this morning and it was 36 degrees, and yesterday mid day it recorded 43, it is very busy round here at the moment as a lot of the spanish people are now here on their holidays, it is getting very difficult to park for the shop and also for the beach, but this is the norm for this time of year, and come august 31st most will be gone again. It is nice to see so many people on the beach and around the bars and just enjoying theirselves in general. The supermarkets are very busy so be prepared to queue, but isnt that what we english are good at. Well that is enough for now will update again another time, to anyone coming here hope you have a nice time and dont forget the sun cream. Hasta leugo.

Hi,
Can anyone tell me of the best places to take 7 & 8 year old boys. They will be happy in the pool or on the beach during the day but think they may get bored in the evenings. preferably not too far as we dont have transport.
Thanks
Jane
Hi Jane,
The boys will love the Go Kart track and you can walk to it from Paraiso/Playa Honda although there are no pavements. Takes about 15 minures. They can watch the races and have burger and chips or take part on the junior karts and I think its about 1 euro a minute. There is a very good bus service (although this does not stop at the track) you can pick up the bus at the top of the road by the Playa Honda entrace by the yellow post box and they run approx. every 30 minutes either into cartegena one way or down La Manga Strip the other. If you get on a bus and go down La Manga Strip in the Evening and ask for Peke Park the kids will love this as it is perferct for under 10's - mini bungee jumps, fairground rides trampolines mini boating lake etc. You could also take them to Cartegena on the bus and go to the port which is an easy walk from the bus depot and go on the open top bus or take them on a boat ride around the bay for about 5 euros. If you are coming down in August it gets really hot and you may find that you leave the beach until after 5 in the evening as the sea is wonderfully warm and you can sun bathe until the sun goes down and its much safer for the kids then. Afterall 'when in Rome'.

spotted an official notice on this building on wednesday saying, I think 'AQUIRED BY THE MINISTRY OF THE ENVIRONMENT'. The council are again making playa honda ready for the August rush with new flag pole being place by the beach bar, putting more feet washers on the beach and covering up dangerous holes on the beach with paving slabs. Last week a wonderful adapted van with a massive blower came up and down the streets blowing mozzie spray, also at the entrance of Playa Honda they have cleared up the rough ground.
Please do not drink and drive, I was told that last week a British driver left a bar in Playa Honda after drinking and knocked down 2 women on the crossing in Playa Honda. There are now many police staying in Playa Honda with their families for the summer, so leave the car keys at home. Police are now testing drivers in the morning so think again, are you safe to drive even then.
Note: Playa Honda is to host the volley ball championships on 2nd and 3rd August.
Hi Gary, there is internet wi-fi at Bar Apicoco, in Playa Honda Dave has had it set up now, also there are two computers and internet at Restaurant Julietta, think they cost a euro for about half and hour, this is also in Playa Honda, now just a note to all you avid readers of this notice board, we had thunder lightning and rain yesterday just to make everyone in England feel a little better knowing that they are not the only ones having all the bad weather, but sorry to say it lovely again today, but everywhere is now dirty from yesterdays rain, oh well cannot have it all. The sports centre is now coming along a little slower, think the workers have now been scaled down ready for the holidays, they are working on the footings now for the building, dont know wether in August there will be nothing done as usually out here no builders work in August, we will have to wait and see. The lights have now been put up in the road next to the sports centre ready for the fiestas in August, like we had last year. There will be spanish bingo and some competitions usually boules, and the like. Then on the last night there is usually the prizegiving. Well thats all for now will write again when anything else happens, hasta leugo.
Hi Sandra,
You mention Fiestas in August, have you got any details please. We do not come over until the 13th August so was wondering if we would have missed them by then?
Hi all, wondered if someone can help? I am coming over next week and need to know whether there is WiFi access or some sort of internet cafe to gain access to the internet. Any comments much appreciated.
Not sure about Wi Fi but the local supermarket - Upper Store - has a small internet area with 3 computers for public use at a small cost.
Hi Gary,
you should find Wi Fi in many places, the Si bar on the la manga club had it last time i was there, alot of the bars and hotels on the strip have it aswell.
would be worth checking with the local bars, theyare all together near bar apicoco. ask in there they should know
The Si bar at La Manga club has a big sitting area for you to use your laptop and you can enjoy a good meal and between 5 and 7 in the evening kids eat free with entertainment thrown in.
Hi Gary, Paddywacks irish bar/restaurant has wifi, it's on la manga strip right on the beach.
Hi Gary,
The lounge bar at Thomas Maestre port on La Manga strip has WiFi. We were over last week & used laptop there every evening. They open at app 5 pm & do not charge to use. Just ask for the code at the bar,
Hope this helps.
Barry.
