Can anyone recommend a place where we can board our 2 boxer dogs for 3 days in April. We will also want to board them for a week at a time later in the year when we go back to the UK for holiday. We are on La Manga strip and anywhere in the Mar Menor area would be useful.
We regularly look after dogs whilst their owners are away. The dogs we board live in our home and become a member of our family thus we do not just take any dogs but dogs we feel are going to settle down and be happy here. Having said that we try to keep them in their regular routine so a meeting prior to boarding is essential. We would expect you to supply their food.
Normally the times of the parades are posted in the local papers, but if you go into Cartagena on Easter Sunday morning you will catch the parade, it goes on for about 2 hours. They parade through the streets carrying the religious figures on big wooden plinths which are decorated with flowers, these are very heavy and take about 10 to 15 people to carry each one. Easter weekend or Semana Santa as its known as here is the most religious time of year for the Spanish. These parades are worth seeing, they take place all over Spain, they even have one in Los Belones and Cabo de Palos but obviously these are smaller parades than the one in Cartagena. Hope this helps you.
I am planning to be in Playa Paraiso for Easter. I have heard about the relgious festival Semana Santa in Cartegena.
Does anyone know where I can get details about this?
Thanks
Warner
Hi,
Does anyone have contact details for someone who can clean my sofa?
Thanks
Juliet
There is no self service Laundry in the immediate vicinity of Playa Paraiso, but there is a very good laundry down the strip at Galarias Flamenca, near Zoco, called Sunnys Lavenderia, the owner there David is very helpful and the prices are very reasonable, Dont have the phone number to hand at the moment but can get it for you if you wish, just let me know and will look it up. We have used this service for our large quilts etc that we cannot get into our machine, and can recommend it. Hope this helps. There is also a spanish laundry in Los Belones but we found this to be very expensive.
Thanks for the info, Sandra. I knew there was a laundry in los Belones, but as you say, quite expensive.
Does anyone know of a self service laundrymat in the Playa Paraiso area?
Sunnys Lavenderia, the contact number is 689 339 095.
You can find their advert in the March edition of Mar Menor Focus, for address, opening times etc. It's online too, if you haven't got a copy.

Tragedy
Juan Manual Masa Beundia, a 20 year old construction worker, died tragically on Wednesday 10th February whilst he was working on the new promenade that is being built in Playa Paraiso.
The 20 year old was driving a mini digger when it tipped over, throwing him out and crushing him. His father, Juan Masa Blanc, owner of the construction company that won the tender to build the new promenade, was lost for words and couldn't even speak due to the shock and horror.
The accident occurred at approximately 12.40pm and there was nothing that any of the other builders on site could do, they simply had to wait until the emergency services arrived. Unfortunately the only thing the ambulance response team could do was to declare the 20 year old dead at the scene.
Whatever the outcome of the Health and Safety investigation into the accident and although we are all moaning about the so called "promenade" we are getting, I think our thoughts must go to the father, who will now have to complete the job without his son.
what a very sad terrible thing to happen to such a young man, who had his whole life before him, and how awful for his father to witness it, our thoughts are with him and his family x
Hi
Does anyone know if they are still doing the car boot sales near to Caravaning La Manga - I was hoping to do one in May when I come down. If not does anyone know where else they are holding one in the La Manga area.
Many thanks
The boot sale you refer to closed down after having complaints from the Capo traders in the Sunday market. Right now there are no car boot markets going, but next month the one at San Javier Auto Cine reopens on a Friday starting on 5th March. As you know all plans are subject to change.
Thank you to Stan, John Mellor and Lyn for your replies - very useful.
looking for information on getting married in the mar menor area, around Mar de Cristal or Los Belones, for friends who own a property but do not live permanately in the area. Understand it is possible to hold a beach wedding in Mar de Cristal or Islas menores, Church in Los Belones woul be nice. Appreciate it may be a longshot but does anyone have any information or web details please?
