Any kind of van wanted. Anything considered but must have aircon and have 4 seats. Citroen Berlingo or similar would be ideal.

Subject: Playa Paraiso On Streetview

Hi All

Google maps have been very busy and Playa Paraiso is now on Streetview! You can check out the sports centre and pretend your there (almost!) Go to maps.google.co.uk/ and search mar menor. You then need to put the symbol of the man onto wherever you want to use streetview.

Also, the whole of the UK is covered now - Im amazed how they have achieved this!

I just wondered if anyone know of someone who can do washing machine repairs please. Ours has broken and we're back down at the end of this month so would like to get it repaired then. Thank you.

Hi Everyone

Firstly, thanks to the website owners for keeping this forum going. It is great to be able to keep in the loop with what is going on over there!

I was wondering if anyone had advice. My mother owns a house in Mar Menor and I would like to work in the area over the summer. I can do casual, service industry jobs but also office/administrative work. Does anybody have any tips where such jobs would be advertised? I know it is a long shot due to the current economic climate. Or perhaps the way I should do it is by spending a few days going up and down the strip?

My Spanish is not too good so I know that will limit my options.

Any advice or people that might be looking during for workers during the summer months that anybody knows will be most appreciated.

Hope all the forum users are well!

Subject: Dog boarding

Can anyone recommend a place where we can board our 2 boxer dogs for 3 days in April. We will also want to board them for a week at a time later in the year when we go back to the UK for holiday. We are on La Manga strip and anywhere in the Mar Menor area would be useful.

We regularly look after dogs whilst their owners are away. The dogs we board live in our home and become a member of our family thus we do not just take any dogs but dogs we feel are going to settle down and be happy here. Having said that we try to keep them in their regular routine so a meeting prior to boarding is essential. We would expect you to supply their food.

Thanks to George and Joanne for your helpful replies. We are looking at some kennels tonight and if they do not prove satisfactory, I will be in touch with you.

Normally the times of the parades are posted in the local papers, but if you go into Cartagena on Easter Sunday morning you will catch the parade, it goes on for about 2 hours. They parade through the streets carrying the religious figures on big wooden plinths which are decorated with flowers, these are very heavy and take about 10 to 15 people to carry each one. Easter weekend or Semana Santa as its known as here is the most religious time of year for the Spanish. These parades are worth seeing, they take place all over Spain, they even have one in Los Belones and Cabo de Palos but obviously these are smaller parades than the one in Cartagena. Hope this helps you.

Subject: Reply to Brian, - Laundry

There is no self service Laundry in the immediate vicinity of Playa Paraiso, but there is a very good laundry down the strip at Galarias Flamenca, near Zoco, called Sunnys Lavenderia, the owner there David is very helpful and the prices are very reasonable, Dont have the phone number to hand at the moment but can get it for you if you wish, just let me know and will look it up. We have used this service for our large quilts etc that we cannot get into our machine, and can recommend it. Hope this helps. There is also a spanish laundry in Los Belones but we found this to be very expensive.

Thanks for the info, Sandra. I knew there was a laundry in los Belones, but as you say, quite expensive.
